Three weeks after his debut, Arryn made the match-play cut, a real step forward. But the top two were gone by then, and his late surge mostly proved the talent that the early pressure had kept hidden.
Tournament Overview
Three weeks after his first PBA Jr. event, Arryn entered the PBA Jr. South Regional Qualifier at Bowl America Bull Run, his home center in Manassas, in the U15 Mixed division. The format ran fifteen games of qualifying across three rounds, then a match-play and positional bracket for the bowlers who advanced.
This time he made it through, finishing qualifying 4th of 5 to grab the final spot. But making a five-deep cut meant beating one bowler, and the two at the top were already out of reach. The real story splits in two: a match-play surge that showed the ceiling, and a qualifying block that showed the gap was mental, not physical.

He held steady through the three qualifying rounds, never threatening the leaders, then jumped a full twelve pins a game once match play began and the pressure of contention was off. That match-play average would have been his best block by a wide margin.
The Match-Play Surge
Match play is where the talent showed. With the standings all but settled and the pressure off, Arryn's 1,467 scratch over the back eight games was third best of the four, behind champion Cameron Bennett (1,986) and Tyler Anderson (1,621) and 80 pins more than Colton Adams, closing 110 pins on third. The lesson sits right beside the highlight: he could clearly do this. He just had not yet learned to do it while the result was still on the line.

The Step Up
His first PBA Jr. event ended in the qualifying round. This one got him to match play, where he won three games and outscored Colton Adams, the bowler directly above him in the standings. That is real progress. It is also the same lesson in a new place: the talent was never the question. Across both events the bowlers at the top were not beating him with bigger games, they were beating him with steadier ones, and the maturity to stay in it when a game went sideways was still ahead of him.
A step forward, and the same work left to do. The hands were ready. The head had to catch up.
